Sean Lindstrom of the Shamrocks deals against Minnetonka

August 14, 2008 - The St. Paul Shamrocks rode the arm of right-hander Sean Lindstrom tonight en route to a 7-1 victory over defending State Champion Minnetonka Millers.

The Shamrocks opened up the top of the first with two runs and would eventually chase Minnetonka lefty Dave Bingham out of the game in the second inning. The Millers would answer in the bottom of the first when Joe Abellera poked a double to right to drive in Chris Urbain, but Lindstrom would use a combination of a two seam fastball and change-up with an occasional slow curve to keep the Millers 3-4-and 5 hitters off the basepaths for most of the night.

Lindstrom finished the 9th allowing just 6 hits, 4 walks, 2 strikouts, and one run.

Minnetonka's veteran left-fielder Jay Mikenas turned in the defensive play of the game when he tracked down a deep drive to left, timed his jump perfectly at the fence, and snagged what would have been a Shamrocks HR in the 8th.

The Shamrocks advance in the Loser's Bracket to play the noon game against Lyon's Pub on Saturday at Dunning.

Royce-Diop put the Warriors on the board early with a 1st inning solo shot to left-centerfield, then added another solo HR later in the game to finish 3-for-5, with 3 RBI's, and 3 runs scored.

The Warriors advance in the Loser's Bracket to play Thursday night at Midway Stadium at 8:30.
